Marc Jacobs

We raced into the Marc Jacobs show directly from a dinner with Vogue friends, forgoing coffee or dessert with the aim of making it to our seats before the clock struck 8. It's been a couple seasons now that Marc has started exactly on time. Two seconds after taking our seats, we witnessed the spectacle of Madonna being ushered in from backstage, then the highly anticipated show started with a whooosh.

On the way out, the words on show goers lips were: "Kabuki makeup" and "theatrical." These two concepts were on my mind as well and the other was layering. It was a multi-faceted collection with overlapping details: loads of scalloped ruffle trims, pearls, sheer harem pants, icy metallics, plaid, scuba seaming, stocking-like leggings, sheer fabrics, Japanese wedge sandals and more....

The girls filed out with such force, one after the next, and by the end of the show, pearls littered the runway like rolling confetti.
