Topshop Trendy

    Imagine you're a trendy British girl walking the streets of London. Imagine passing Big Ben, the London Bridge, the royal palace, and double-decker buses...

 

 Enter Topshop, the go-to store in Britain filled with tons of up-to-the minute, unique pieces...

 

 

    Now, imagine having these incredible clothes in the United States. Although it would be nice to walk the streets of London, you don't have to in order to wear Topshop. Thank you Nordstrom for making this happen! As many of you probably already know, Nordstrom has recently partnered with Topshop enabling all of us to be just as trendy as those British girls, oh and boys too (Topman)...

 

   Now I know this is outside of the realm of BP, but it is too big of news at Nordstrom to simply ignore. I have always heard amazing things about Topshop but never really got the chance to explore it. I like being able to try things on and to not have to ship something I want from out of the country. With new stock in every week in 14 Nordstrom stores and online, I know this won't be a problem anymore!

 

    The thing I love about Topshop is that they have all of these unique, quirky, and vintage-looking pieces that you can't find many other places. Picture clear tights with an aztec stripe down the side, an ombre scarf, a studded belt pouch, a faux fur collar, and a metallic jacquard miniskirt. Still not convinced? All of the pieces I have featured in this post are $50 or less. Take a look...

 

     I absolutely love their tees whether they are graphic, tie-dye, or even simply say "Geek" on them (hey, could be a simple solution for a Halloween costume right?). To me, the typical Topshop girl screams hip, and these tees just add to their effortless style. Here are a few of my favorites..

 

    As Meredith previously mentioned in one of her posts, crosses on merchandise are becoming increasingly popular. In fact, my most favorite Vogue cover of all time was Anna Wintour's first as editor, and it featured a studded cross on a sweater (that's "jumper" in Britain). Well anyways, Topshop definitely has you covered on that one..

Fabulous Fur

Happy Friday Fashionistas!

    I have another great trend for the fall! Faux fur is a great addition to any outfit whether it be for that extra oomph or simply to keep you warm. Faux fur vests are my favorite, and BP just got this adorable one in!

 

    Fur vests can easily be dressed down as shown above. I love how they look when people layer them and how they can transform any outfit!

 

    Since it is a relatively neutral piece, there are so many ways to wear it. I've seen faux fur look really classy and preppy and then I've seen it made look more hipster. Wear it to fit your own unique personality!

 

I personally like it worn with black and white for a classic look. How would you wear faux fur?

Dress Up Your Shirt

    Shirt dress fashions have come and gone in the past years. Now is your time to try this trend out! I have been seeing more and more of them lately, and I am eager to try one out myself. 

 

    I believe that there are two acceptable ways to wear a shirtdress. The first way is to belt it, and the next is to layer! This is so that you aren't left looking too sloppy. Yes, the shirtdress is a typically casual look, but you still want to look put-together.

 

Belt it: Cinching the waist of a shirtdress with a belt is the perfect way to wear one. Make it fun by adding a printed or brightly-colored belt. 

 

Layer it: This can have many different meanings. You could wear your shirtdress open with a bandage dress underneath. You could add leggings if your shirtdress is too short. You could add a jacket or a scarf, and not to mention countless accessories! There are so many different ways to wear this one simple piece.

 

The nicer shirtdress:

 

    Silkier and preppier? Yes, please! With this new style, you don't really need to add a belt or layer unless it is too big. Take a look at these adorable ones from BP..

Stud Muffin

    Going along with the modern grunge theme, studs are huge this fall! Would you be daring enough to rock this edgy trend?

 

    I love how bold studded denim is! My goal is to wear either a studded denim jacket or shorts in the upcoming month. Go back in time with these vintage inspired looks..

    You could take it up a notch by sporting studded leather. Let your inner rebel run free with these eye-catching looks..

 

 

    Think this is all too much for you? Add a touch of edge to any look with some studded accessories! I especially love the studded collars. They're the perfect combination of grundge and prep!

    The focus of my most recent fashion board meeting was shoes! Everyone has been loving the combat boots, especially the studded ones. Studded oxford style flats and heels are also making an appearance this fall!

The Boots of Fall

    My favorite item of the fall has got to be boots. There is a wide variety of them and they go with everything! This fall, I am looking forward to mainly wearing four types of boots. These are combat boots, riding boots, rain boots, and UGGs!

 

Combat boots: These will add a touch of rebel to any outfit with their edginess. They're sure to make a statement and liven up any plain outfit!

 

Riding boots: These are a classic, timeless piece. If you're feeling prepster this fall, go for some tall, brown patent leather riding boots!

 

Rain boots: My favorite type are Hunter! Whether it's raining or not, these are a great addition to any outfit! Neutral colors go with anything and are great for this fall. However, I do love the bright ones because they add that cheery pop of color!

 

UGGs: At school I pride myself on being comfortable. UGGs make me feel like I am wearing slippers to school and I absolutely love it!

Remembering 9.11/ Navajo Sweaters

    Today we remember the tragedy that occured in our country exactly 11 years ago. Even though I was only in first grade when the World Trade Centers were hit, I will never forget that day. So in my blog today, I would like to honor all of those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001.

 

    While looking for pictures, I came across these TOMS that someone decorated. What a creative way to remember this day.

 

    Onto the fashion portion of my blog, I would like to note that it finally feels like fall where I live! Fall is my favorite season because not only do I love the cool weather, I also love fall fashion the best! The temperature keeps dropping, especially in the morning and night, and so I am already starting to layer. My favorite thing to layer on over my outfits in the fall is a sweater. This fall, I am looking to Navajo and other tribal print sweaters that go along with the New Frontier theme..

    I love this idea of pairing your sweater with some fringe boots or moccasins (that I recently blogged about). Add a braided headband to complete the look!

 

    Wear your sweater over shorts and a tee now because the temperature is still typically high during the day. As you go to more Friday night football games and October rolls around though, wear your sweater with some leggings or skinnies and your favorite pair of boots!

 

        I especially love the really long sweaters. I am already seeing that longer lengthened tops are becoming very popular. I like this trend because I think longer tops are more comfortable to wear with leggings or jeggings. When you're shopping for all your fall must-haves, keep tribal patterned sweaters in mind!

Haute Homecoming

Hello Fashionistas!

    I am so excited to finally share with you more of everything that I experienced back in June onset the Homecoming photo shoot (check out my experience below)!

 

    When you look for a dress for a dance, you want more than just a dress that you will wear one time. That's why I love the dresses that Nordstrom has created because each one has meaning; they each tell a story. The three main stories that characterize these gorgeous dresses are Flapper Glam, Hollywood Chic, and Rocker Remix.

Flapper Glam:

    Most of you have probably studied the 1920s countless times or read the Great Gatsby in school. Well let's bring back the 20s this fall for Homecoming! I'm talking tons of sequins and big accessories. Try wearing a headband across your forehead. Then throw in some feathers or fringe and a strand of pearls and you're set! These dresses have such a unique vintage feel. Here's some inspiration...

 

Remember the dress I got to try on? This was my favorite Flapper Glam one!

    Want to step it up and be a trendsetter at your Homecoming? If so, then Flapper Glam is definitely the way to go. Remember to wear your dress with confidence because the flappers were the most confident women and trensetters of their time. In one of these dresses, you could be your school's own Golden Girl!

 

Hollywood Chic:

    From form-fitting styles to your favorite colors, these are the dresses that you know and love. You'll feel like a star walking the red carpet as you step into your Homecoming in one of these stunner designs.

 

    I could definitely see myself wearing any of the Hollywood Chic dresses that I saw on set to my own Homecoming. They're classic, bold, and fabulous!

 

Rocker Remix:

    This storyline pretty much speaks for itself. Give your Homecoming look a little bit of edge this fall! From a fascinator to leather jackets and gloves to a patterned blazer, the models at the shoot were styled so well for this category. Take a look...

    One thing I noticed at the shoot was that a lot of the dresses were styled by adding high dress socks with either heels or oxford-styled shoes. I love this unique twist on a dance look! Will you be daring enough to try it out?

Fun in B.P.

Happy Anniversary Sale Friday!!!

    My friend Olivia and I were at our local Nordstrom checking out the Anniversary Sale showrooms and the new merchandise in B.P. While we were there, we thought we'd try on some clothes to show all of you!

 

    For the first round, we tried on some fall clothes. I wore black Jolt stretch skinny jeans, a patterned blouse, and a double-string beaded necklace. This outfit definitely has a fall feel! I am going back to buy it as soon as I can since I can't stop thinking about it. Olivia flaunted white Jolt skinny jeans, a navy Frenchi peter pan collared blouse, and a plaid coat. The white denim and blouse is perfect for a fall day at school or on the weekend. Then throw on the coat at night when it starts getting cold!

 

    Next, we resorted to some pretty dresses. Olivia wore a Mima Chica patterned high-low strapless dress while I tried on a lush green dress. My favorite part about each? The vibrant color of the green one and the uniqueness and girliness of the high-low one! We then each styled our dresses with a belt. I thought mine still needed a little extra something, so I added an ivory Stephen & Co teardrop bib necklace...

 

    After trying on the dresses, we decided to go back to denim!  I couldn't wait to try on some printed denim so I was immediately drawn to the Jolt rose printed skinny jeans. I paired them with a seafoam Lush woven tee that brought out the seafoam color in the jeans. To complete the look, I put on a gold necklace. As for Olivia's look, she sported the black skinny jeans and a pink and white striped tank. To top it off, she wore a beautiful silver necklace with pink and green accents.

 

 

 

Finally, we had fun with athletic wear! I was loving the white and peach Nike shorts with matching jacket and sports bra while Olivia went Yoga comfy with black leggings and a tie-dye top.

Denim Download

I know it's way too early to start mentioning back to school fashion, but when BP's Denim Guide came out the other day, I couldn't just not touch on the subject. Plus, all of my magazines this month have been denim issues.

And just to make sure you don't stop reading yet, Anniversary Sale at Nordstrom is going on. This means that all of the fall looks are marked down (sometimes up to 40% off!) for Fashion Rewards members until the 19th and then open to the public on the 20th. The point is that if you start thinking ahead now, you could get some serious deals!

It's no secret that the fall is all about jeans because that's when the weather starts getting cooler. So as summer fades into fall, start thinking about the perfect pair you want to rock to make your first impression of the new school year. Don't worry, the Denim Guide also includes all of your favorite jean shorts for the rest of summer!

 

As far as the trends go, colored denim is still a staple! For transforming the look, try wearing your bright ones from the spring and summer with a darker top. Or, to switch it up even more, try darker colored jeans. Think of the changing colors of the leaves in the fall...olive greens, mustard yellows, and deep reds.  My favorite style of colored denim is the new colored jeggings! Since they are so tight, I think they look best with an oversized top. A slouchy sweater perhaps? They are also great because you don't have to worry about tucking them in your boots!

Printed denim is also sticking around. If you haven't tried out this trend yet, now is your time to do it! There are so many adorable printed denim shorts in BP right now; I'm looking forward to wearing longer versions of them next season!

And finally, switch out those white jeans for dark wash ones!

Save the lighter wash for your top. Chambray shirt anyone? Don't be afraid to do denim on denim by mixing these two trends!

Seattle Style

As many of you know, I was in Seattle the past few days doing a live blog from the BP Homecoming photo shoot. Check back on the blog around September right before Homecoming to get more scoop and pictures from on set!

Being that I was going for a fashion shoot and interviews, I wanted to look my best. A couple days before, I went to my local Nordstrom on the hunt for the perfect outfits. Fortunately, I found three outfits for the three days I was there.

 

While heading for Seattle, I wanted to be fashionable while also being comfortable. I opted for a stretchy pair of People's Liberation skinny jeans, a floral tank, slouchy sweater, trench coat, and ballet flats. It's always good to layer when travelling because the air conditioning is usually blasting in the airport and on the plane.

 

Later that afternoon once we arrived, I had three informational interviews to learn about Online Merchandising, Social Media, and Marketing. I decided to wear a pair of white jeans, a patterned tank, and my black blazer. Above I'm at the top of the Space Needle after my interviews.

 

For my day on set, I wanted to represent BP and wear something I loved while also being comfortable again. A patterned maxi, chambray blazer, and gold sandals seemed perfect. 

 

For my last day of two more informational interviews, I wore a high-low tie-die dress with a jean jacket and black gladiator sandals. 

 

I wore a darker pair of skinny jeans, a grey tank, grey sweater, and fedora on the plane ride back home. 

 

Some of my other highlights in Seattle included going to the bubblegum wall, visiting Pike's Place Market, and seeing my former BP manager!
