The How To: Bandeaus and Bustiers
Bandeaus and bustier tops have been popular for awhile now. As summer has come around, I have been noticing them even more. Like many trends, I was a little wary of this one at first. How was I supposed to pull off this look without looking inappropriate? I wanted to be able to wear one without my mom stopping me on my way out the door. After seeing so many cute ones, I had to figure out how to rock the perfect bandeau in a classy way.
After much online research and observation of my peers, I realized that the main trick is high-waisted. High-waisted shorts, high-waisted skirts, high-waisted pants. More material on the bottom allows you to make up for less material on top.
Choosing a bottom that sits right above your waistline works best. Add a belt to keep your shorts/skirt/pants secure up on your hip.
I also love the laid-back vibe of a bandeau under a romper or overalls. This kind of outfit is perfect for just lounging around at your house or the beach on a lazy summer day.
Wear your bandeau under a loose tank top with some of those high-waisted jean shorts for another casual look. Add some fun, unique necklaces to give your outfit more depth.
For a more sophisticated look, try your bandeau under a sheer or lace blouse.
Lastly, if you still don't feel covered up enough, wear an oversized cardigan, blazer, or vest over your bandeau or bustier.
