The How To: Mix and Match

I know I've mentioned mixing and matching different prints and colors before, but since this is such a big trend right now, I wanted to go into more details of how to pull it off the right way!

There are so many ways to try out this trend. For instance, you could try the same print in different colors...

Or you could try completely different prints alltogether...

One of the most important things to keep in mind is to use similar color schemes. If you are going to contrast the prints, you may not want to contrast the colors as much. If one of your patterns has black in it, then choose another that has black in it as well.

If you want to be more bold, make sure to pick colors that complement each other! I found this great website, http://colorschemedesigner.com/, that can do this for you. Pick one color that you want to use, press complement, and it will find the perfect match. You can even go up to 4 colors if you want. Your color blocking problems are solved!

Blue and yellow go great together as does pink and green!

Stripes and florals surprisingly work well together. Try it if you want to be more daring in your outfit choice.

You can find great ways to contrast your outfits through your accessories! I love the way the girl in the picture above used a scarf to try out the stripes and floral trend. Clutches and shoes can also work, especially for color blocking! Here, Leighton Meester uses her shoes, necklace, and subtle top all to work great together despite their different patterns...
