Here We Go!!

Happy Anniversary Friends!

I arrived to work with the rising sun and the energy was already pumping through the store. All the beautiful new Fall product lined the departments as we rushed to get everything ready for the growing crowds waiting patiently for the doors to open.  And then they finally opened...WOW. Yes, there was running...yes, there was clapping...yes, there was cheering. Luckily no fights broke out over the last Tulah Ray Split Satchel in Berry or the few remaining Tory Burch Denevue Sweaters in ice blue.  People were very well behaved, very happy to be shopping and very ready to spend some serious cash. This store packed to the gills with people excitedly picking out new favorite shoes, bags and clothes is quite a sight to see...one that puts a smile on my face every time I see it. Congratulations to all the fabulous Nordstrom employees for an amazing first day of Anniversary. And to all the fabulous friends who visited our floors today...a big Thank You and we can't wait to see you again. (Let's be honest...it'll probably be tomorrow...you've been thinking abut that handbag since you saw it and you know you should've bought it, especially at that price).

Anniversary Beauty Exclusives - 1 day to go!!

It's almost here!!  For our final pick here's Kari Larsen our Scal/AZ Beauty Director.

Beauty Director Pick: July 18th - Laura Mercier - This fall, smoldering eyes were seen all over the fashion runways and the Laura Mercier color collection gives you all the tools you need to achieve this glamorous look.  Here's what's included along with a few tips:

The new Twilight Mini-Eye Mosaic is a unique baked formula that will give you the ability to be creative, it also has great staying power - so be gone creasing on the eye!  The Angled Eye Color Brush allows you to place the color exactly where you want it - great for blending too.  I love the mini Purple Sapphire Kohl Eye Pencil it glides easily on the top of the eye...remember to keep your pencil close to the lash line as possible. We are in the home stretch with only 2 days to go.  Let's check in with Tressa Schrock our Northwest Beauty Director who lives in Seattle, which is where Nordstrom started. Here's her pick and what she thinks of it...

Beauty Director Pick - July 16th: Prada 'Infusion D'Iris' - For any of you that might not know, Nordstrom Anniversary sale is a very special time for cosmetics because we get Beauty Exclusives, which simply means every beauty company we carry designs something just for us, just for this sale and at a special value price!  It is a sale after all.  Debbi ask me to share with you my favorite beauty exclusive item, this is a no brainer.  It has to be the Prada 'Infusion D' Iris' Gift Set.  This is one of the best fragrances I've experienced in a very long time.  It's my favorite!  I constantly get compliments on it from both men and women and I never get tired of it.  It's a clean, fresh, light and sophisticated scent that's a winner in my book.  Prada 'Infusion D' Iris' also took home 3 Fifi Awards for 2008.  The Fifi Awards are sort of like the Oscars but for fragrance so it's a winner in the industry as well.

Beauty Director Pick of the Day - July 15th: Shu Uemera - Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the time when you pick up the "IT Products" and this season the eyes are the focus. Please forgive...it's Anniversary time

Hi friend!

I'm sooooooooooooo very sorry for the delay in my posts to you my friend! But, it's Anniversary time. And if you don't know what that means, let me inform: Fall Shopping Heaven. I have to give the Nordstrom boys serious pats on the back because this is ingenious. The brand new hot fall product comes in to the stores and, just to add a cherry on top, we put it on sale for 2 weeks. I'm sorry...On sale? Oh yes, my friend. This sale is unmatched in the industry. You will not walk into another specialty retailer and find this kind of opportunity. We just thought it would be nice to give our customers a chance to be the hottest, ready-for-fall ladies (and men) on the sidewalks for less money. After 2 weeks, the prices go back to normal and the frenzy goes back to a steady fall-loving churn. But for those 2 weeks, it's magic...markdown magic. Growing up, this is the sale that was talked about in the way legends are...this will go down in fashion history. I've worked in retail a long time, and I've heard stories of people running once the doors open, but I'd never actually seen it until my first Anniversary sale.  Seriously. Running. Mark your calendar:

Anniversary Beauty Exclusives - 5 days and counting!!

I thought for the final 5 days I would reach out to the amazing team of regional beauty directors I work with and ask for their favorite Anniversary Beauty Exclusive.  It's their job to stay current on the trends of the moment and share them with our beauty advisors and our customers.  They live around the country (Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Dallas, Chicago) and have years of experience at Nordstrom as well as in the cosmetic industry.  Since they are the ones that communicate and coach beauty trends and product knowledge into our stores, they get to see what all the brands have to offer. If it's carried at Nordstrom, the beauty directors know all about it.  So first up is Julianne De'Chaump, the Midwest/Capital Beauty Director.  Here's her pick and what she thinks about it....

Beauty Director Pick of the day - July 13th: Dior Gaucho Palette - If you weren't able to attend fall fashion week in New York, not to worry...you're still able to get one of the hottest couture inspired Dior collection pieces for fall.  It's the Dior Gaucho Palette.  It's the trendiest metallic leather pouch designed after one of the most popular Dior handbag  (the gaucho) and inside is four of the chicest ready-to-wear eye shadows in tones of wines & roses along with two creamy lip colors.  Lucky for me, Dior just sent one to my office and I can't stop touching up my makeup.  I just want to hold this pretty piece up high and center for all to see.  There's nothing like a good old Dior piece to make a girl feel glamorous...even Carrie Bradshaw would be envious!!

Pick of the day - July 12th: Antica Farmacista Home Collection - If you haven't had a chance to go on vacation this year this collection will make you feel like you have.  In this set is our Nordstrom exclusive fragrance called Ala Moana which was made in celebration of our new store in Hawaii.  It smells just like an exotic tropical garden with jasmine, tuberose, gardenia and plumeria along with hints of refreshing green notes.  Also included in this set is a liquid hand wash in Acqua which has the scent of a cool ocean breeze.  It's the perfect combination or as I like to say it's a vacation-in-a-box!!

Pick of the day - July 11th: Clinique Glow Pretty Set - Making it's U.S debut is the Fresh Bloom Allover Color in Camellia.  Clinique brought this exclusive color to Nordstrom all the way from Europe....that's right, this color has never been available in the United States until now and it's only during Anniversary sale.  How cool is that, but once it's gone it's gone.  Also included in this set is a corresponding Full Potential Lip Plump and Shine in Glamour-full.
